Olivia Wilde's Kids Think Ellen DeGeneres Is Their "Real Mother" For the Most Hilarious Reason

Olivia Wilde stopped by the The Ellen Show on Sept. 19 and dropped a hilarious bomb on viewers: her 4-year-old son Otis and her nearly 2-year-old daughter Daisy believe Ellen is their actual mom. The reason? A painting Ellen gifted to Olivia six years ago.

The running joke started back in August when Olivia shared a photo on Instagram of Ellen's portrait hanging over her bed in a post about National Dog Day. And, of course, Ellen couldn't help but respond with her own rendition that had us in stitches.

But according to the Life Itself star, the painting has since been moved to another part of the house. "Now it has another very special place: outside the children's bedrooms, so it's the first thing that they see when they wake up."

Obviously, Ellen wondered if the kids ever asked who the woman in the portrait is, and Olivia had the best response: "Yeah, they say, 'Oh, that's our real mother.' And I say, 'Yes.' They love it. It's the greatest thing in the world."

Another adorable takeaway from Ellen and Olivia's sit down? Daisy already fibs about her age. "She also lies about being 3, which is a really funny thing. You ask her, 'How old are you?' and she's like, 'I'm 3,'" said the 34-year-old mom of two. "I think she so badly wants to catch up with her brother that she's already lying about her age." She added that, "She's really very grown up; I'm amazed by her. She's a really funny, funny person."

Obviously, this photo definitely got Ellen's attention.

But of course Ellen one-upped Olivia with her own creation.
