This 1-Year-Old Had a "Smash the Patriarchy" Cake Smash, and Damn, That’s a Cool Baby

Rachel Goodlad has always had a feeling that she'd have a daughter who she could raise to be a strong girl, and now that her daughter Charlotte Quinn — who everyone simply calls Quinn — has turned 1, she's helped her smash the patriarchy with an epic cake smash photo shoot. For the shoot, Rachel ordered Quinn a judge's gown and gavel from Etsy, and her photographer, Yvette from Yvette Michelle Portraits LLC, set up a backdrop of black balloons with a gold "Smash the Patriarchy" banner. Quinn was plopped in front of it all, looking like a mini Ruth Bader Ginsburg, with a cake in crawl's reach. The results are absolutely incredible.

Rachel told POPSUGAR: "We have a 2-year-old son, and I explained to some of my friends that I really just want both of [my kids] to be awesome in whatever way they choose to be. The point that that is still a radical thing depending on what they choose to do and be, blows my mind. People focus on colors for baby products and the right types of toys and activities instead of just raising kind and amazing humans. I think there should be more focus on that and less on the stuff that doesn't matter. There is nothing wrong with being badass, and I hope neither my son or daughter shrink from who they were meant to be."

Here, here! Ahead, check out all of the empowering photos from Quinn's first birthday cake smash shoot.
