This Mama Duck Paraded Her Chicks Around a Hospital, Because Babies Are Worth Showing Off

Patients at Thompson Health in New York got quite the treat on May 16 when a flock of adorable ducks made their way through the hallways. According to hospital employees, every year at least one duck lays eggs in the facility's courtyard, and this year, they decided to capitalize on the fact that 13 adorable little ducklings were born.

"Every year, without fail, a mama duck chooses one of the enclosed courtyards at our M.M. Ewing Continuing Care Center to lay her eggs and take care of her babies," reads the now-viral Facebook post. "She lets us know when she's ready to go by tapping on the glass, and this morning, it was time for this annual rite of Spring."

In order to keep both the ducks and the patients safe, hospital staff members gently guided the mom and her babies through the hall and out the door to a picturesque patch of grass that seems like a great spot to parent in.
