1 Family's Adoption Photo Shoot Is on Point, but the Touching Story Behind It Is Everything

When Keia Jones-Baldwin married her husband, Richardro, she was eager to expand her family. While Keia already had a biological daughter, Zariyah, from a previous relationship, she knew in her heart that having more kids would enrich her life. After trying to get pregnant with no luck, Keia and Richardro turned to adoption, and their journey is one for the books. To celebrate the newest addition to their squad — a sweet little boy named Princeton — the Jones-Baldwins did a photo shoot, and it's equal parts funny and moving.

"My husband and I tried to have children on our own and unfortunately were unable to," Keia told POPSUGAR. "After a few miscarriages and failed rounds of IVF, we decided that we'd look into adopting. We initially wanted to do foster care to see if that would be something we could handle full-time as a therapist and police officer."

"Through fostering, we had the opportunity to meet some really awesome and amazing children that needed forever homes."

Hoping for the best, Keia and Richardro dove head first into the fostering process. "Through fostering, we had the opportunity to meet some really awesome and amazing children that needed forever homes and decided to open up our home as an adoptive placement," she said. "That's how we ended up with Ayden."

Proud of her growing family, Keia also agreed to take in Zariyah's friend Karleigh five years ago, and the rest is history. "Karleigh and Zariyah were friends at school. Karleigh's mother fell on hard times when her daughter was 11 years old. She asked if we could watch her for a while but Karleigh never went back to her biological mother," explained Keia. "At the time, it saddened us. But we were able to get guardianship and now she's happy and stable!"

Most recently, Keia and Richardro agreed to adopt Princeton from foster care, and that's where the incredible photo shoot comes in. "I have a shirt made for every occasion!" said Keia. "My husband's close friend owns a screen t-shirt shop and I contacted him about ideas I had for Princeton's adoption. We sat down, designed them, and wore them Thursday for his Adoption Day!"

While Keia's biological daughter Zariyah is African-American, both Ayden and Karleigh are biracial and Princeton is white, making the Jones-Baldwins truly a multicultural family — a fact that Keia is especially proud of. Get a look at this sweet photo shoot that will make you brim with joy ahead.
