By now, most people have the common sense not to ask a woman of childbearing age what her reproductive plans are, but there are always a few outliers. Apparently, Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour is one of them.
In an Instagram video promoting Rihanna's sixth Vogue cover last week, she bluntly asked the star about her pregnancy plans.
"Rihanna, do you hope to have a baby soon?"
Rihanna's response? Wide-eyed surprise.
"I don't think about stuff like that," she said, laughing uncomfortably. "But I don't know . . . God — God's plan. But I look forward to all of the pregnancy rumors after this interview."
Although Rihanna was initially flustered by the question, in an interview with Extra, she said she didn't mind being asked something so incredibly personal.
"A lot of women get very defensive," she said. "It's personal, it's our bodies, and of course it's our time, and it's not necessarily everyone's dream to be a mom . . . but it's mine, so I'm fine."
She added: "Anna just wants to know what the people want to know."
Still, if I were asked such a question, a curt "none of your business" would be as forthcoming as I could possibly be. Good on Rihanna for having such a good attitude about a situation she shouldn't have to encounter at all!
