10-Year-Old Brings Baby Toon Spoon Invention to Shark Tank

This 10-Year-Old Inventor on Shark Tank Just Secured an Investment For Her New Baby Spoon

Want to feel like an underachiever? Meet 10-year-old Cassidy Crowley, an inventor who wowed the judges on the season 11 premiere of Shark Tank this past Sunday. The fifth-grader was there to pitch her safe baby spoon design, which eliminates the long, sharp design of a traditional spoon. The silicone product, called The Baby Toon, doubles as a teething ring.

Cassidy, who first invented the elephant-shaped spoon for a local science fair when she was 7 years old (let that sink in, you full-grown adults out there), said she was thankful to be on the reality series "to show other kids that they can be open to opportunities they have at school or at home to create and invent."

When asked if she'd quit elementary school to focus on her business, she looked at her mom and joked, "I can go straight to college."

Her adorable yet focused presentation ("let's face it: I'm only 10 years old, I need a partner!") was hard to pass up, and she ended up securing a $50,000 deal with investor Lori Greiner.

Mark Cuban noted, "I think you're more of a shark than we are." Judging by her business-savvy response to whether she's going to feel like a superstar back with her classmates, I'd say he's right on the money.
