The Wiggles Mashed Up a Tame Impala Song With "Fruit Salad," and Y'all, It Slaps

Hello, Recording Academy? I have a belated suggestion for this year's Grammy nominations that I urgently need you to consider. It's a little out of left field and frankly not something I or anyone else could've ever anticipated, so just hear me out, OK? The Wiggles — yes, the children's music group — just performed a mashup of their catchy smash hit "Fruit Salad" and Tame Impala's "Elephant," and I'm delighted to report that it's a certified banger. We may only be three months into the year, but I'm ready to declare this the bop of 2021.

So, what was the cause for this delightfully unexpected performance? A combination of original and newer members of The Wiggles were invited to appear on the Australian radio station Triple J for its "Like a Version" segment on Thursday. I'd like to think the band's decision to cover Tame Impala had to do with the fact that they're both Aussie musical groups and therefore they stan one another. Suited up in their usual monochromatic long-sleeved shirts, the entertainers put their own spin on "Elephant" before seamlessly weaving in a subtly psychedelic version of "Fruit Salad" — complete with those signature "yummy yummy" hand motions.

If you're ready to have your world rocked and week exponentially improved, watch their full gig above. And please join me in praying that The Wiggles start offering adults-only concerts in the very near future, 'cause I'd personally pay big bucks to hear their interpretation of Cardi B's "Up."
