Your treasured designer pieces deserve a spot in our daily wardrobe rotation and shouldn't be reserved for special occasions. That's why we teamed up with Citizen to share how model Angela Lindvall wears luxury pieces every day.
What does luxury mean to you? Whether it's an expensive accessory you've been lusting over or something more invaluable, luxury shouldn't just to reserved for "special occasions." Living luxuriously should be something you embody and embrace every day. No one knows this better than model and environmentalist Angela Lindvall. Focusing her efforts on style and substance, she has emerged as an advocate for environmental and fashion sustainability, which, according to Angela, definitely falls under luxury.
See Angela's tips below for pulling off those luxury pieces, because whether you're just hanging at home or spending a day with friends, those moments are worthy of something special.
"Luxury to me means something worth appreciating," says Angela. Which is why it's something worth incorporating into your day-to-day look. But since luxury is simply something you value, Angela says its meaning could be a bit more abstract. "I value time more than anything — having the time to invest in the people and things important to me." That's why she cherishes her Citizen timepieces. "More than telling time, a watch reminds me to be present in the moment. And so often, a watch marks a milestone in your life, giving it a deeper meaning."
As an environmentalist, investing in luxury pieces that are eco-friendly is always at top of mind for Angela. "I choose things of quality that are made well. I also invest in pieces that I absolutely love from designers I love that I know I will have for many years to come," she says. This is why she loves Citizen. "The watches are a great eco-friendly accessory and since they are powered by any light, I never have to worry if the battery might have died."
When it comes to wearing luxury pieces every day, it's important to ensure the pieces you're wearing have a unique story. "I shop at a lot of boutique stores when I travel. I like the more eclectic vibe than a department store," says Angela. But that doesn't mean she avoids the practicality of online shopping. "I use the internet when I'm looking for something specific, and I shop at designer stores when I want to invest in something new and exciting." Being a conscious shopper means you're investing in pieces you truly love and value.
When shopping for clothing or accessories, Angela says it all comes down to your outlook. "I don't have a 'throw-away' mentality with my clothing. It's something to have less of, but higher quality . . . and taken care of and appreciated," she says. "I dress for comfort and season more than trends, yet I have my own style. I appreciate things that are made well, with quality natural fibers ideally in a conscious way." Her current favorite? "The Citizen diamond collection is my go-to right now. But there is always a watch from one of their collections that fits my mood or style on any given day. "
So now that you've researched and invested in your wardrobe, how do you pull it off? According to Angela, the secret is investing in luxury items you can layer. "Because I live in California, I wear a lot of layers," she explains. "I love a well-made basic that can be layered upon and even unlayered to do yoga or exercise." Her go-to pieces include cashmere or wool ponchos, plus her day-to-day accessories, like bags, and, of course, a watch.
