Madewell Is Making It Easy to Get Impossibly Chic French-Girl Style
If you've ever eyed the chic outfits of French women with envy, then you're about to love Madewell's latest collaboration. The label just enlisted the Parisian-based brand Sézane, headed up by designer Morgane Sezalory. If you're not yet familiar, you'll soon be obsessed — the collection of effortless wardrobe essentials, like the adorable "La Superbe" sweatshirt, has earned Sézane a cult following in Paris. And if ever we can take a page out of the fashion playbooks of well-dressed Parisian women, we'd be fools not to, right?
In this lineup, we're already eying Sézane's iconic sweatshirt, but the rest of the brand's stateside debut is just as wearable — and impossibly cool. Morgane seems to know exactly what we want: "I wanted to strike a balance between our two cities, Paris and New York. I imagined pieces for two women. First, a French woman trying to 'fit' in New York — she wants to be chic, but cool and casual in that way Americans do so well. Then I thought about an American woman wanting to bring a Parisian touch to her wardrobe. The colors are quiet, heels aren't too high." It's a collaboration that artfully marries the best of both style worlds.
