Banana Republic Names Marissa Webb Creative Director
It's a good time to be a high-street shopper — Banana Republic just named the very talented Marissa Webb creative director and vice president of design, effective April 28. If you're not yet familiar with Marissa, just wait — we suspect she'll soon become a household name, much like Jenna Lyons of J.Crew.
Interestingly enough Webb, too, began at J.Crew, where her 11-year tenure with the brand culminated in her serving as the head of women's and accessories design. Since then, the designer has been busy with her own eponymous label, which she launched with the Spring 2013. With each collection, Marissa delivers easy, feminine appeal with the kinds of cool-girl styling tricks we hope will make it from the runway to Banana Republic. For a glimpse of what we hope will come, we're taking a look back at her Spring 2014 lineup.
