Mindy Kaling's Description of This Dress Is Laugh-Out-Loud Funny

There are quite a bit of similarities between Mindy Kaling and her character on The Mindy Project, Mindy Lahiri. For starters, they share a first name and are both hilarious. But a main crossover between fake and real life? They love wearing clothes designed by Salvador Perez.

Salvador is the creative genius behind those colorful, mix-printed looks you see on the show, and Mindy herself is a fan of rocking his pieces on the red carpet. Recently, she stepped out in one of his chicest creations yet while attending the Creative Arts Emmys: a long red gown, complete with a cape and complemented by Neil Lane jewels and Jimmy Choo sandals. Read on to see her outfit in full, as well as what the star and designer had to say about it. Fair warning: you might laugh out loud.

"Because we are celebrating Sal's nomination, I wanted to wear something that was his total genius and vision. It's gorgeous. I look like the head of a foreign country who was once an accomplished dancer."

"I really felt Mindy was my co-nominee because she inspires me every day. I designed this dress for her to reign over the red carpet. Swarovski sent crystals, [which] added the perfect amount of sparkle, [and the look was completed with] Jimmy Choo sandals, a Swarovski Crystal bag, and Neil Lane Diamonds."
