Naeem Khan on Dressing Sasha and Malia Obama
The First Lady's Go-To Designer Speaks About Dressing Sasha and Malia Obama Too
New York-based designer Naeem Khan leads one of Michelle Obama's go-to fashion houses. She wore his designs on one especially memorable recent occasion, selecting a long-sleeved floral dress for a state dinner in Cuba this week. Naeem also had the honor of outfitting FLOTUS for state dinners at the White House, creating an intricate column dress for a 2011 gala honoring the German chancellor and a strapless gold gown for a 2009 function honoring the Indian president.
This month, Naeem brought two new Obama women into the Khan family: Sasha and Malia. Both Malia and Sasha wore Naeem Khan to the March 2016 state dinner honoring Canada's new prime minister. And now, Naeem is finally speaking out about the honor in a new interview with The New York Times. He said, "I guess they see their mom in all the glam and want to be like her. I was very happy when they chose something."
As for his thoughts on the first lady herself, Naeem couldn't be more appreciative. "She has made my brand and put America back in fashion. I would do anything for her," he told The Times.
