8 Must-See Moments From Peter Copping's First Oscar de la Renta Collection

It's a question that's been on everyone's minds since Oscar's passing and the announcement that Peter Copping would succeed the legendary designer: "what will he do?" Last night, we got our answer when Copping sent his first collection for the house down the runway for a front row that included Oscar's closest friends, fans, and the fashion world's biggest critics.

That's an awful lot of pressure, even for a seasoned designer who was handpicked by Oscar himself. But the lineup speaks for itself — you can see both where Peter and the late designer share common ground and where Copping will bring something new. There's a bit more youth and even a sexier sensibility crafted in sheer lace bodices and lower necklines — but rest assured, the femininity, the attention to detail, and the wow factor are still there. Scroll for eight big takeaways from the Fall '15 show.

Taylor Swift joined the front row and snapped this photo, captioning it: "I felt very lucky to be at the Oscar de la Renta show today. It was comforting to be in a room of people who miss him as much as I do, and will continue to celebrate his legacy for years to come."

Karlie Kloss, who was notably absent on the runway, shared this on her Instagram: "It was an honor to attend the Oscar De La Renta show yesterday evening. While it was a new and emotional experience to watch Oscar's show and not walk it for the first time since I was 16, I couldn't help but feel like he was right there in the room. Peter's collection was stunning and a true celebration of Oscar's beautiful legacy. He is truly missed."

And of course, Anna Wintour was front and center, joined by her two March cover stars.

We were in awe of the feminine detail and bold hues. This breathtaking blue gown seemed to tell that bright color story Oscar always told so well.

While we're used to seeing florals on Oscar's runways, these were more distinctly Copping's — a touch darker with a sexier silhouette.

Copping also seemed to tell a sultrier, more youthful story with lace-inset bodices and floral appliqués creating a peek-a-boo effect. Now if only someone would wear this to the Oscars — Emma Stone, we nominate you.

Speaking of Oscars gowns, it seems he designed the perfect little dress to take Emma Stone to the afterparty, as well. Fingers crossed.

Karlie didn't make an appearance on the runway, but Kendall Jenner slipped into one of Copping's bordeaux ball gowns.
