Rare Burmese Ruby Being Auctioned at Christie's
Everyone Is Going Nuts Over This Extremely Expensive Rare Ruby
Sure, we may dream about owning jewels worthy of a royal, but if you've got $12 million to $15 million lying around, those dreams could soon be a reality. Christie's auction site recently shared a listing for a rare Burmese ruby — one that weighs in at a whopping 15.99 carats, aka quite the large size for this type of precious gem.
It's "the most important Burmese ruby to appear at auction in the United States in over 25 years," said the description, and what makes it even more covetable? It wasn't until the middle of the 19th century that anyone other than "the Sovereign of Burma or an individual deemed worthy by him" could even own such a stone. Talk about special.
