Scarlett Johansson Just Put a 2019 Spin on an Early 2000s Trend: The Striped Polo Shirt
As soon as I saw Scarlett Johansson's outfit at the Venice Film Festival, my mind flashed back to the early 2000s. The actress wore a blue striped polo shirt with a white collar, and it's the kind of thing we all had some variation of back when polos (especially Lacoste knockoffs) were all the rage. I know I had at least two of Old Navy's latest polo styles in my closet in 2003. Of course, Scarlett put a fresh spin on the throwback trend and managed to make it work for 2019. For starters, her top is fitted and cropped, and she paired it with high-waisted gray trousers and a white belt. The small space between the crop top and the cinched belt shows off the tattoo on her midriff, which gives the whole look more of an edge.
She completed the outfit with black strappy heels and pointy silver earrings (and that gorgeous engagement ring, of course). The Golden Globe-nominated actress is attending the film festival for the premiere of her new Netflix movie, Marriage Story, which also stars Adam Driver and Laura Dern. Scarlett looked totally flawless as she made her way through the red carpet with the rest of the cast. See her full look ahead, and you might be inspired to break out some of your own favorite '00s trends.
