The 5 Spring Shoe Trends You Need to Try On Now

The sophisticated single-sole pump has long belonged in the realm of polished, pulled-together professional women — aka the furthest thing from the vixen. But now with the addition of a sleek and skinny ankle strap, the pump has been injected with a dose of sex appeal. It's still sleek enough to wear at the office, but suddenly has new life for date nights and long nights dancing.

After seeing the parade of shoes that came down the Spring 2014 runways, we began to wonder if the next best thing to being barefoot is wearing a sheer shoe. A host of options presented themselves with netted mesh and see-through plastic, allowing for a peak of skin and a seriously cooling look. A leather bootie can add to the steamy factor on a hot Spring afternoon, but imagine how good a little breeze rushing through your heels would feel?

By now, the bootie's become such a wardrobe staple that it's hardly an exaggeration to say we're not quite sure how we could get dressed without it. And while we'll always love the look of a chunky pair worn with a light and airy sundress, there are times when we wished for something a bit lighter. It's as if designers read our minds, creating a variety of styles that had a bootie silhouette but flashed some skin by way of cutouts, peep-toes, and exposed heels.

Therefore, it was a happy surprise to see the sleek styles that paraded down the season's top-tier runways, adding an easy bit of polish to all kinds of looks. It's one of those shoes that's happily simple to translate from the runway and will work equally well in the office as paired with boyfriend jeans (and the shoes you can say that about are few and far between).
