Australia's biggest week in fashion, Australian Fashion Week, is upon us, taking over and spilling out from Sydney's Carriageworks and some off-site venues around the city. This year, thanks to new custodian Australian Fashion Council, taking over the reins from long-time sponsor IMG, things are set to run a little differently.
The shows are spread across four days, instead of the usual five, with Carla Zampatti's evening show at the Museum of Contemporary Art on Monday, May 12 kicking things off. The show featured 60 models to commemorate the brand's 60 years in business. This year will also see AFW hosting Australia's first international trade show, Splash Sydney, and the introduction of a new group show format called 'The Frontier', featuring established and semi-emerging brands.
One thing that is no different, is that the street style continues to deliver. We love to see Australian designers supported in street style, and this year has been no different. The biggest trend we've spotted? Texture. From feathers to leather, fluffy to sheer, velvet and heavy metals. We've also spotted boxy blazers, tomato red and a whole heap of styling inspiration we can't wait to take on board.
Here are some of our favourite street style looks of Australian Fashion Week 2025 so far.

A styling trick we can steal from M3GAN is to layer a sleeveless, summer-weather dress over a long-sleeved tee, so that it works for cooler temps too.
