Kicking off cruise season, Chanel hosted a seaside show at the Monte-Carlo Beach hotel in Monaco, welcoming a distinguished crowd at the dreamy locale. Brand ambassador Kristen Stewart was in attendance, dressed to the nines to greet guests and watch the cruise 2023 catwalk. The "Spencer" star sported a sleeveless, scoop-neck minidress covered in black, white, blue, and red sequins from Chanel's fall 2022 collection. The leg-baring design allowed for a full view of the actor's sheer tights, which she styled with black open-toed platform sandals in quilted leather. The 32-year-old star kept herself warm with an oversize gray tweed coat that reached knee level.
Stewart joined other friends of the house, including British actress Tilda Swinton, American filmmaker Sofia Coppola, French singer Vanessa Paradis, Monégasque model Charlotte Casiraghi, and South Korean rapper G-Dragon. The stars were gathered on a pebble beach overlooking the scenic French Riviera, a location close to Creative Director Virginie Viard's heart: "From very early on, I knew we would hold a show there, and more precisely at the Beach Hotel," she said in an official statement. "Besides, Karl [Lagerfeld] was dreaming about it."
Viard went on to unveil a 67-look collection inspired by memories she shared with her predecessor Lagerfeld during stays at his villa, La Vigie. There were sequined jumpsuits and coats, bohemian maxi dresses, and a plethora of suiting separates — many of which were rendered in different colors of Chanel's signature tweed. The pieces packed plenty of polish, perfect for spontaneous sun-filled getaways in far-flung places. The models carried a range of accessories, including tennis-racquet bags, crossbody styles, mini quilted lunchboxes, and travel satchels. As for footwear, chunky sneakers, satin pumps, and ballerina-style heels finished the looks with a mix of practicality and glam.
