September is like the fashion girl's back-to-school month, even if none of us are heading back to class. With Fashion Week kicking off, no shortage of new Fall arrivals, and, well, an end to Summer weekends spent lounging on the beach, it feels more like a new year than a new season.

We're actively switching gears — most obviously (and importantly) with a brand-new wardrobe. Starting with sleek outerwear, walkable sneakers and boots, and a fresh cut of denim, we're prepping for one of our biggest months. Stay prepared for whatever lies ahead and shop all of our editors' must haves when you scroll.

These Feiyue canvas sneakers ($65) have a rich history with shaolin monks and kung fu masters, but for me they're just a way to elevate my white sneaker game. I convinced all my friends to order a pair, including our own editor in chief, Lisa Sugar.

A chill in the air doesn't mean you still can't show a little skin. I love the sexy '70s vibe of Reformation's Encina bodysuit ($78). Perfect for a night out when the weather starts to cool.

— Hannah McKinley, editor

Chokers are making a comeback, but in a more barely there way. A dainty gold necklace adds a hint of shine and elevates any outfit you put on. This Vanessa Mooney choker ($62) works for day and night. I’m currently wearing it to death.

I've been slow to embrace the culottes trend, but a denim pair that'll work well with my suede knee-high boots and a peasant blouse is the perfect way to channel the '70s this Fall. I'm feeling a dark indigo shade and a silhouette with structure like this Karen Millen pair ($110) to best flatter my legs.

These knee-high Zara leather boots ($159) are the type you see and instantly fall in love with. I know I'm going to wear them with everything — even when the hemline of my breezy maxi dress only allows for a slight view of the lace-up detail at the back.

— SW

The Cienne Hardy Dress ($245) is the perfect dress-meets-overalls hybrid. While it is more sophisticated than its denim cousins, I love that the design still feels young. Also, it's handwoven in Ethiopia and made in New York, all with integrity and attention to detail. Pretty darn cool.

These powder-blue Puma x Solange sneakers ($90) are chic and totally easy to move around in for Fashion Month! They'll pair just as well with a leather skirt and structured sweatshirt as they will with jeans and a tee.

— SW

Ahhh, the soft touch of buttery suede. While I first spotted this Veda Suede Camel Jacket ($946) in my Instagram feed, the slim fit and cool cut convinced me it would look better sans filter, in my closet.

— AM

Throwing a look together with your cutoffs (now) and flared denim (later) has never been easier, thanks to the rocker-tee resurgence. Just pick your poison — I'm partial to this Iron Maiden tee ($195).

— HM

I never thought I would use the words sexy and sweater dress in the same sentence, but here I am. This cozy Acne ribbed knit dress ($600) is fitted and slouchy in all of the right places. And think of all of the styling possibilities once the temperature really drops.

— MC

Though the two-toned pattern on this Elizabeth and James tote ($595) makes a statement, it’s still a decidedly neutral addition to my wardrobe — and I need a new satchel that will fit my laptop!

— SW

As the season transitions and temps start to drop, I love finding new ways to layer, and this oversize Banana Republic Blush Vest ($110) is a great piece to wear so many different ways: over a flowy floral printed dress, with a long sleeve and black skinny jeans, or dressed up in a crop top and midi skirt.

— JC

Since Club Monaco had its store redesign, I can't help but want everything in it. The visual merchandising always pulls me in: my latest obsession is the Darielle dress ($329). I love a going-out look that isn't too girlie. This one fuses feminine and sporty details with its plunging neckline connected by a shimmery band. It's what you call tomboy pretty.

— JC

I'm beyond over statement-making baubles and pendants: this Fall, I'm doing feminine and delicate. When I'm giving my trusty bandanas a break, I'll rock this Gorjana Durango Bolo Necklace ($65), which will give me a little something extra without stealing the spotlight.

— Samantha Sutton, assistant editor

Transitioning into Fall is easy in this Alexa Chung for AG Jeans button-front suede miniskirt ($750). The A-line cut creates a flattering silhouette, and the buttery fabric is so delicious. I recommend wearing this with a chunky-heel Mary Jane for full-blown mod vibes.

— MC

What better way to ring in a new season than to refresh the essentials? I fell in love with the Salvatore Ferragamo continental wallet ($575), which features the iconic Gancio logo.

— SW

I've been wanting a denim jumpsuit since before the Summer started, and now that the weather's getting cooler, it's time to make that purchase. This option from Forever 21 ($35) is easy, affordable, and will help me channel my inner Gwen Stefani.

— SS

Sandal season may be nearing an end, but I still can't help but crave a pair of these Marais slides ($168). The blue suede is on-trend for the coming Fall, and they're so comfy I imagine wearing them everywhere — even if it means pairing them with socks once it starts to cool off.

— AM

To me, September marks the start of sweater weather, so how could I resist lusting over this Ryan Roche shaggy crochet cardigan ($980). It touches on '70s-era trends like shearling and even shag carpet, so I can be cozy and on-trend when I cuddle up in it.

— AM

Kim Kardashian finally got to me — in a good way! I'm adopting the duster-coat-over-everything look, and I'm obsessed with AYR's trench ($325). The bonus? It's actually a dress, but I suspect it will look even cooler unfastened over a fitted tank dress.

— HM

Between weddings, Fashion Week, and the Winter holidays (which will probably be here before we know it), it's about time I invested in a chic silver shoe to go with everything. These strappy ones from Giuseppe Zanotti ($845) are not cheap, but they're bound to last for many years — and weddings and Fashion Weeks and holidays — to come.

— SS

File this Free People dress ($148) under easy transitional options. There may be nothing so easy as wearing this one-piece look with a leather jacket thrown across your shoulders and adding sneakers or Fall boots. Just wait — you may never want to take it off.
