Kick Off the New Year With Our January Must Haves

2016 is the year the year of the white button-down like you've never seen it before. I'm prepping with a fresh cut Jacquemus Cutout Shirt Dress ($390) that I'll layer over leather leggings till it warms up.

Lately I've been on the hunt for a pair of flat lens sunglasses, and I'm pretty sure these RetroSuperFuture Tuttolente Paloma Sunglasses ($295) are the coolest ones in the game. The refletive lens and unusual frame style set them apart.

I've been admittedly obsessed with the comforable footwear trend of 2015, and the good news is it's not slowing this year. With these Loeffler Randall Callie Platform Oxfords ($395) on hand, I'll feel polished, without ever needing to pull on my pumps.

I've been seeing structured lace coats all over the place. They may not provide warmth, but they do provide a hefty dose of style. This satin H&M version ($149) will bring my outfits a little something extra, upping the fancy factor just enough to turn heads.

This David Yurman bracelet with a set of black pave diamonds ($1,150) makes for a dream addition to my arm party. I know its luxe design makes it seem like the type of gift you ask for for the holidays, but there’s always room for a little extra icing in January, right?

A new year calls for a new bag. This season, I'm embracing the minimalist sophistication that no one does better than Céline. Plus, the Mini Belt Bag ($2,500) is roomy enough to tote my laptop, but not big enough to stow the crap I'm vowing to rid myself of in the New Year.

Part of being a fashion editor is letting the world in on your style secrets, and a big one of mine is American Eagle Outfitters' Boho Artist Flare Jeans ($40). They're almost as comfy as sweatpants, work wonders for my butt, and are superaffordable, so naturally I'm stocking up.

In the new year, I'm making an effort to treat myself to a few small pleasures when I can. This Wwake 4-Step Opal and Diamond ring ($472) is something I've had my eye on for months, so I'm making an extra effort to make it mine once and for all.

Right now it feels like everyone’s trying to get their hands on a Calvin Klein bra and panties set — but not this version! While lots of ladies have their eyes on the gray sports bra and boy shorts, I much prefer the Magnetic Force Bralette ($28) and contrast Hipster Panties ($28).

Sweater season is upon us, but I'm tired of the unstructured knits in my closet right now. I love that while oversized, this Acne ribbed wool sweater ($380) still feels structured and polished.

I'm a sucker for the oil-slicked look of this Tracey Tanner Slick Carmen Flap Clutch ($235). It's metallic without being too flashy, perfect for a night out for drinks.

You know how every white T-shirt is so see-through that it's almost pointless to even wear a shirt? Everlane's options aren't like that. They're thick enough and offer plenty of coverage, so I'm currently swapping out some basics with this box-cut style ($18).

With this Theory Suede Kyun Slip Dress ($955) in my closet, getting dressed will be easy and always chic — just add a turtleneck and ankle boots for now, and be right on trend with bare legs and platforms later.

I'm eyeing my Spring wardrobe, though it's still definitely Winter out. Until it heats up, I'm keeping these Aritzia Wilfred Free Daria Pants ($135) on hand as the perfect layering piece.

I'm all about accessorizing my puffers and wool toppers with furry stoles, but for my other coats? I'm digging Kate Spade's Owl-Printed Scarf ($228), which will surely make a statement while keeping me warm.

The gray tone of these Forever 21 Loafers ($23) is perfectly ideal for the Winter, and I love the structured, pointed-toe silhouette!

I'm still obsessed with the look of leather overalls, but between my newfound love of flares and the eerily warm temps in NYC, I can't bear to pull on pants that are tight around my ankles. Topshop's Faux Leather Culotte Overalls ($105) combine the best of both worlds, helping me nail this style in a way that's comfortable and cool.

While home for the holidays in California, I discovered Pansy's cotton bra ($48). It's the normcore extracomfy undergarment I've been dreaming about.

For me, there’s just something about Miu Miu bags. And when the label recently announced their new Club Collection, I fell hard for this royal blue python design ($2,680). It’s edgy, perfect for print mixing, and more unique than any chainstrap satchel I’ve ever seen.

A few months ago, I saw a girl pair leopard boots with leopard socks and — I swear! — it looked so good. My next big purchase will definitely be these Calf Hair Chelsea Boots by Tabitha Simmons ($895), allowing me to copy that stylish stranger's hack all Winter long.
