Michelle Obama's Favorite Outfit Is Something We Suspected All Along

With only a few more months left in the White House, the Obamas are making sure they go out with a bang — and a few stylish magazine covers, too. The president and the ever-so-stylish FLOTUS are the stars of Essence magazine's October issue, appearing on the cover in a suit and off-the-shoulder LBD, respectively. Michelle also appears alone in October's InStyle, rocking a chic green one-shoulder Brandon Maxwell dress and accessorizing with large statement earrings.

While the interview for Essence focuses on the mark the family made over eight years — "I think when it comes to Black kids, it means something for them to have spent most of their life seeing the family in the White House look like them," Michelle said — the interview for InStyle is (naturally) more fashion-focused. The First Lady even shares her go-to look, aka something we kind of suspected all along. "Very casual," she said. "No makeup, a t-shirt, and a pair of ripped jean shorts or workout pants because I'm always on the verge of going to or coming from [working out]." She also admits she loves color and "pieces that make me feel good, but it's much more informal."
