You're About to Fall in Love With Valentino's Spring '17 Lineup

Valentino ushered in a new era with Pierpaolo Piccioli's first show as sole creative director of the label, though, admittedly, the Spring '17 lineup looks a lot like the Valentino we already know. Romance is delivered in contemporary shapes and details, like the lace-up flats and micro-mini crossbody bags swung over evening wear. Dresses cut in the same peasant silhouettes with high necks and skirts that float away from the body. Notably, reds and pinks dominate the runway — a nod to Valentino's signature red now washed in bright fuchsias, then muted petal pinks.

The Valentino customer will adore the pretty dresses she was hoping for; but Piccioli's trousers might be more interesting this time around. He cuts a cool wide-leg pant, paired with a button-down, a sweater, or a leather jacket. The lovely lace, the pleats, the femininity is at the core of the design, and the parade of delicate gowns at the finale is enough to make anyone fall in love. But, you have to appreciate the ease and elegance crafted in the separates you could wear on the red carpet, or just every day. That's the real romance.
