Bernie Sanders Had the Best Response to That Balenciaga Collection

Balenciaga's Demna Gvasalia debuted his men's Fall 2017 collection last month in Paris, and with it came his signature styling. The boxy silhouettes, sophisticated tailoring, and layers seemed to mimic the pieces at his Spring 2017 women's show. But while that collection was decidedly '80s-inspired, Balenciaga's menswear spoke to the modern political activist.

Demna worked Senator Bernie Sanders's presidential campaign logo onto puffer scarves, t-shirts, bomber jackets, and vests so it was as if his models were campaigning down the runway — both for Balenciaga, an on-the-rise brand, and for a politician who continues to inspire many people post election. When Bernie Sanders got wind of what went down, he laughed and when asked if he would ever be "a fashion icon," Bernie said, "Of my many attributes, being a great dresser or a fashion maven is not one of them."

Demna Gvasalia made slight tweaks to the logo, adding a third curved line and his brand name in strong block letters.
