Michelle Obama's Favorite Fashion Week Designers From All Around the World

No matter where she is in the world — be it on vacation or out and about promoting her latest projects — Michelle Obama needs to maintain an appropriate wardrobe. We spent eight years admiring the former FLOTUS's style, and we like to think we know her taste. Just because Michelle's not in the White House doesn't mean she won't be attending events in very smart looks.

We assume she'll always support her favorite American designers and help to champion new talent when she's traveling internationally. That's why we kept track of the runways this season and played stylist, selecting tailored coats and blouses we know Michelle would love, along with a few laid-back pieces she'd definitely wear for casual occasions. Ahead, get on board with our picks, then check out our imaginary lineup for Kate Middleton.

This bright floral midi was one of the more subtle dresses on Gucci's Fall 2017 runway, but we think it fits right in with the rest of Michelle's colorful wardrobe.

Mary Katrantzou's signature prints don't look one bit busy on the former FLOTUS, who knows how to smartly accessorize such a standout piece.

We think this jacquard peplum set that just debuted on the runway would make for a lovely, sophisticated look on a happy occasion.

When in London, Michelle taps the British fashion houses for her looks, this floral-stitched fit-and-flare included.

Michelle is always a fan of a colorful blouse, and even if she paired this one with a pair of simple slacks, she'd still turn heads.

J.Crew

Michelle has worn J.Crew on many occasions, but she likes shopping the brand's accessories and tops, here opting for a marigold blouse and cardigan combination, cinching her waist with a thick belt.

We think she might do well in this off-the-shoulder ruffled sweater, paired with roomy trousers like this J.Crew model at the Fall presentation.

Michelle has long been a fan of the brand's fun florals, selecting their A-line looks for daywear.

Tracy Reese set up a laid-back presentation for Fall 2017, letting models hang around in her intricately stitched works of art. We could see this teal design in Michelle's wardrobe.

In the past, Michelle has tapped the fashion house for sleek cuts and striking graphic prints. She wore this marigold dress to the State of the Union address in 2016.

Slitted sleeves upgrade this black and white design from the brand's Fall 2017 runway, offering Michelle a trendy twist.

Michelle and Jason have become great partners since the designer created her inauguration dresses. In 2016, Michelle surprised us when she transformed a jacquard coat from the runway into a glamorous evening gown for the Canada state dinner.

We selected this bright cherry-red coat from Jason's Fall runway, which we could see Michelle pairing with power pumps and her classic hoop earrings.

While traveling, Michelle usually selects printed shirt dresses and tunics from Tory Burch.

We'd love to see Michelle tap the designer for a preppier, longline jacket like this midi version that hit the Fall runway.

Delpozo

Delpozo

Delpozo is an on-the-rise brand ladies all over the world are starting to pay attention to. When Michelle showed off the quirky characteristics on her white shirt dress alongside Queen Letizia, we took note.

We can imagine Michelle making everyone swoon, turning up in this vibrantly colored combination from Delpozo's Fall line. Now that her wardrobe might veer on the playful side, we think she'd be bold enough to pull off the confetti pockets, too.

After Lady Gaga's stylist, Brandon Maxwell, designed Michelle's Singapore state dinner gown, he made it big. Countless celebrities (even Oprah!) tap the designer for occasion dresses.

As soon as this indigo trouser set hit the Fall runway, we thought of Michelle and her ability to pull off trousers with asymmetrical tops. We think this color would do her justice up on stage while giving a speech.
