This Tiny Detail on Nicki Minaj's Outfit Automatically Made Her Queen of the Met Gala

Nicki Minaj knows how to make a statement on any red carpet, and her appearance at the 2017 Met Gala was no different. When Nicki arrived, photographers snapped and heads turned to see the rapper in a custom H&M ensemble, which honored Rei Kawakubo and the Comme des Garcons theme in such an incredibly distinct way. Aside from the obvious red and black color scheme that recognized Kawakubo's influence on the fashion world, we looked closer and saw Kawakubo's face featured on her leather obi belt.

Pernilla Wohlfahrt, H&M's head of design and creative director, said in a press release, "Each H&M look has been entirely custom-made, with both Kawakubo's creative world and the style of our guests in mind," and Nicki's ensemble did that perfectly — staying true to her personal style while flashing as much skin as possible.

Her sheer custom gown was held by an off-the-shoulder duchesse satin kimono top designed with red Swarovski crystals. The lengthy train featured "extravagant raw-edged silk taffeta and black vinyl roses trapped at the hem and beneath the train." But the most exceptional detail of Nicki's entire custom look was the belt. Keep reading to see photos of Nicki's captivating ensemble, which along with the rest of H&M's custom Met Gala looks will be auctioned to benefit Girl Up.
