Dior's 2018 Cruise Show Was a Wild, Wild Party
For her Resort debut at Dior, Maria Grazia Chiuri invited guests to a two-day party in Pacific Palisades, CA, which began with an outdoor dinner at sundown. Stars like Kiernan Shipka and Freida Pinto joined influencers Helena Bordon and Olivia Palermo at the surf club, where there were signature drinks to enjoy and a personalized menu board to order from. Showgoers flaunted their favorite Dior bags and more casual Dior ensembles.
On day two, guests arrived at the Upper Las Virgenes Canyon Open Space Preserve in Calabasas, CA for the debut Dior Sauvage show. The French word "sauvage" means wild. A-listers like Miranda Kerr, Demi Moore, Brie Larson, and Rihanna were treated with views of rolling hills and expansive fields. Nature's natural beauty was what inspired Maria Grazia Chiuri's cruise collection, telling Women's Wear Daily, "At the end, what I would like to say is that women ought to feel in contact with nature, ought to feel in contact with themselves and should be able to dress themselves in a way that's really playful."
Elements from Chiuri's inspired location was present in the clothes that came down the runway. Models wore bandannas and wide-straw brim hats, fringed sweaters and skirts, rugged hiking boots, and touches of fur and feathers gave the pieces a wild, wild west feel. The show ended with the sunset, which casted that soft, natural lighting no stage lights could ever mimic. Read on to see snaps from Dior's 2018 cruise show.
