15 Pieces of Jewelry That Kate Middleton Wears on the Daily

Much as we'd like to imagine otherwise, a tiara and heirloom diamonds are not entirely the appropriate attire for the likes of the school run or a quick trip to the shops, so what's a royal mom to wear on a day-to-day basis? Since Kate Middleton became the Duchess of Cambridge six years ago, she has mastered the art of subtle luxe when it comes to her everyday jewelry choices, mixing up historic pieces, low-key staples, designer diamonds, and semiprecious stones. We've gathered together all of her favorite go-to items . . .

Perhaps Kate's absolute favorite versatile jewelry is the pair of pearl drops that she's been wearing since the Summer of 2012. They are suspended on small diamond hoops and are understated enough to be worn with waterproofs on rough and tumble sailing engagements, as well as with a cocktail hat to a Buckingham Palace garden party. They are a staple of Kate's royal tours, she chose to wear them when she left the hospital with Princess Charlotte, and she wore them this year with her first Gucci outfit to an engagement at the V&A Museum.

Kate started wearing her Cartier timepiece on her tour of Australia and New Zealand, and it's thought to have been a third wedding anniversary present from Prince William. It features a tiny sapphire, which matches her engagement ring, and Kate wears it on most of her daytime engagements.

The earrings that match her engagement ring were a present from William around the time of their engagement and wedding and had belonged to his mother, Princess Diana. Diana owned several pairs of sapphire and diamond earrings that were made from stones she was given as a wedding present from the Saudi royal family, so it's unknown which ones William had remodeled for Kate, but they have become a firm favorite. They have been worn for dressed-down daytime engagements including watching a rugby match, as well as much dressier occasions including one with the queen.

Kate first wore the pavé diamond leaf earrings in Fall 2015, and they have become a versatile addition to her jewel box. Created by her favorite earring designer, the earrings have been worn many times, including on last year's tour of Canada and this year to the London Marathon and a visit to a city farm.

The double diamonds were first worn by Kate at Princess Charlotte's christening, meaning they could well have been a gift to celebrate the princess's birth. They're now in heavy rotation and have been worn together many times, including to the queen's 90th birthday celebration lunch last year. Kate wears the necklace separately with pearl, blue topaz, or sapphire earrings, including to key events such as Trooping the Colour and Garter Day, as well as her trip to Luxembourg this year. She also wears the earrings separately, including on one of her most recent engagements.

Another of Kate's stone-cold favorites are her trusty citrine drops. She has owned the earrings since before she was married, wearing them to one of the first official engagements to launch a lifeboat in Anglesey shortly before her wedding. Although Kate owns a couple more pairs of Kiki McDonough citrine earrings, the duchess has worn this pair consistently over the past six years. They are so adaptable, they can take her from wind-tousled and outdoorsy to formal and immaculate — such as at the christening of Prince George.

Kate was first seen wearing the golden earrings back in 2010 at a friend's wedding, and they have made regular appearances ever since. She wore them in LA during her first royal tour, in India and Bhutan last year, and this year at both Wimbledon and an engagement at the Natural History Museum.

Although Kate is most closely associated with the color blue, she has also rocked her share of gorgeous green, and during her tour of Canada last Fall, she wore these green onyx earrings for the first time. They have swiftly become a favorite, and she also chose to wear them for St. Patrick's Day and her trip to Paris this year, as well as to the Chelsea Flower Show.

A favorite item since Kate's single days is her pavé diamond pendant, and she wore it extensively in first year of marriage — including to the viewing of her wedding dress with the queen and her first few solo engagements. It seems to have fallen out of use in recent years, but she wore the matching earrings for the first time this year to the Heads Together race against William and Harry, so it seems the pendant could pop up again at some point.

The wonky pearl earrings were a bit of a style departure for Kate when she wore them for the first time to a charity engagement last year, but they have swiftly become a clear favorite. She wore them again at Wimbledon and on her tour of Canada, as well as this year in Berlin.

G. Collins & Sons, the historic royal jeweler, is responsible for the tanzonite and diamond earrings and pendant that Kate debuted at a St. Paul's Cathedral service in 2015. She has stepped up the use of the set in the last 12 months, wearing it to host the Obamas in Fall 2016 and at a memorial service earlier this year. She also wore the earrings on their own for her arrival to Canada last year.

Most of Kate's go-to jewelry items are either earrings or pendants, but for a while, the delicate Tiffany bracelet was a firm favorite. She wore it at the press call when her engagement was announced, throughout her entire first tour of Canada, and several times in the year or so afterward, but she seems to have stopped wearing bracelets altogether for daytime engagements.

Although Kate has 15 pairs of Kiki McDonough earrings, the cushion-cut green amethysts are among her favorites. It's thought they were a present from William for their first Christmas as a married couple, and as well as favoring them for many daytime engagements including St. Patrick's Day, she has also worn them for four Christmas Day church services and on the first Valentine's Day after her wedding when William was away in the Falkland Islands for helicopter training and she was on one of her first solo engagements.

Kate wore these for the first time last year and has worn them a good handful of times since, including the Street Cat Named Bob premiere, last year's Festival of Remembrance, and Wimbledon this year.
