There have been plenty of times where I dressed up in what I thought was a cute, fashion-forward outfit, only to have my boyfriend, Pat, say, "Is THAT what you're wearing?" Ironically, it's those exact outfits that have gotten me the most compliments. After talking with my coworkers and friends, it seemed like I wasn't the only who faced this conundrum.

With Fashion Week around the corner, I decided that instead of worrying about what I was going to wear, I would just make Pat choose my outfit. Plus, I have to admit, I was quite curious to see what he actually thought about Fashion Week and if he had learned my fashion likes and dislikes over the years. (I mean, it has been seven years — he must have picked up on some things, right?)

With this mission in mind, I enlisted the help of my fellow fashion editors to join in on the action and have their SOs dress them for one day too. From a shiny disco ball look to a Guy Fieri-inspired outfit, the outcomes were pretty amazing. Without further adieu, I give you all of the outfits our boyfriends dressed us in during Fashion Week.

Read on to look at the final outfits, along with our dudes' hilarious commentary that let us in on the inner workings of their minds. You can even shop some of the pieces we wore, that is, if you're feeling inspired.

Nikita and Patrick

What He Calls the Look: "Guy Fieri Takes Fashion Week to Flavortown"

Pat's Inspiration Behind the Outfit: "I like to tease Nikita about what trends seem to be fashionable. When she showed me this leather jacket, I loved it, but the Flamin' Hot Cheetos-inspired sleeves made me chuckle. It kind of reminded me of something Guy Fieri would wear. Of course, when I showed Nikita the outfit, she loved it. Go figure."

What Nikita Thought of the Outfit: "The second Pat set his eyes on this leather jacket, I saw a devilish grin form on his face. 'What did I get myself into?' I thought to myself. I personally thought this jacket was amazing, but knowing that Pat's a living, breathing meme machine, I knew he was going to say that I looked like Guy Fieri. Much to my dismay, he promptly went on to pick up the jacket and sing, 'It's time to go to Flavortown!' Side note: I also want to call out how adorable it is that he subconsciously matched his outfit to mine. It seems like my years of training have paid off."

Sarah and Joey

What He Calls the Look: "The Red Disco Ball"

Joey's Inspiration Behind the Outfit: "After seeing some of Sarah's options for Fashion Week, the red disco ball dress really stuck out to me. It seemed like a very 'Sarah' outfit. I decided to pair it with her embroidered SLW jeans that I know she likes to wear. And for the shoes, all she can talk about recently are her combat boots, so I figured I would throw them in."

What Sarah Thought of the Outfit: "When Joey chose my outfit for Fashion Week, I was kind of shocked he picked something I really liked. I showed him the 'new in' section of my closet, and he instantly eyed the red sequined sheer dress with VERY high slits at the side. He then proceeded to tell me I could wear it with tights underneath. So, I put it on for him and showed him just how high those slits rode up on each side. He settled on jeans and laughed when he saw my white '80s kitten-heeled booties. 'Can I make you wear this with those?' Thank goodness he turned to the left and saw my trusty combat boots. 'Wait, you wear those things all the time. Wear those.' I was happy with his footwear choice but totally would've picked a different clutch. He told me the outfit did not need jewelry but wanted me to wear my dusty rose colored Balenciaga bag (this is his favorite). My face must have said, 'Dude, that totally doesn't go,' because he went digging for this random Zara clutch I didn't even know he knew I had and told me to get dressed."

Marina and Woon

What He Calls the Look: "Furry Roadkill"

The Inspiration Behind the Outfit: "I hate furry sh*t, and I don't understand it. I think the trend is hideous, but I see girls wearing it all the time. Marina is always browsing for furry stuff when shopping online, so I dressed her in it for the photo shoot. But, now that I'm looking at the photos, she actually looks pretty good in it."

What Marina Thought of the Outfit: "It's true, I do love furry clothing. Woon always makes fun of me whenever I wear this jacket, and I always send him furry things I see saying, 'Should I buy this?,' knowing he'll respond back with the eye-roll emoji and a 'NO!' While I do love the pieces he put me in, I wouldn't wear them together — especially the blue top with the fuzzy H&M jacket. I felt like everyone was looking at me when I left my house and immediately took off the jacket when we went to a diner to eat before the shoot. The snap-button pants Woon chose were super comfortable. I actually bought the bottoms last year and completely forgot about them, so it was a nice choice. Woon topped off my look with the pink sunglasses, which he told me were 'perfect' with the outfit before laughing to himself. I'm pretty sure it was an evil 'haha you look nuts' laugh."
