Vans Is Dropping a SpongeBob Sneaker Collection — Because Childhood Dreams DO Come True

Try not to freak out, dear reader, but your favorite Krabby Patty-flipping, jellyfish-catching, pineapple-living cartoon character now has his very own sneaker collection. That's right, folks — SpongeBob SquarePants has inspired the latest line of Vans sneakers, and they're about to take you on a nostalgia-packed walk down memory lane. I thought my childhood dreams came to fruition back when Puma dropped a Hello Kitty-themed line of kicks, but this just might take the cake, seeing as I still shamelessly binge-watch episodes of SpongeBob from time to time.

The Vans x SpongeBob collection features six pairs of bold sneakers, in addition to skateboarding accessories and apparel (see: the coolest checkerboard track pants). The shoes, which are decorated with fun prints that honor SpongeBob and his Bikini Bottom pals, feature one hilarious detail that only true fans of the Nickelodeon series will appreciate: the waffle-like soles include a graphic of a squashed Plankton. Hah! I guess that's what he gets for attempting to steal the Krabby Patty secret formula so many times . . .

This epic collaboration officially launched on Feb. 24 at a handful of lucky retailers, but we're crossing our fingers that the colorful sneakers also become available online in the near future. Get your first look at the cool kicks ahead, and you'll definitely be transported back to your childhood days of wishing it were possible to actually live in a pineapple under the sea.
