You'll fall in love with H&M's new Studio Collection just as soon as you lay eyes on the dreamy campaign images, with models posing in crisp denim, knits, and vintage inspired dresses. But once you learn the inspiration behind the range, described by H&M as "Neo-Noir Chic," you'll realize you just need to splurge on everything. H&M took it back to the late '80s/early '90s with heavy influence from cult series Twin Peaks, but the clothes on screen had a major '50s aesthetic, so the team thought about Marilyn Monroe's glamour and James Dean's classic allure, smashing all three decades together to churn out looks that are feminine and modest, but with a tough, boyish twist.

"From Donna Hayward's cozy alpine sweaters and masculine shirting in rustic colors, to Audrey Horne's body-sculpting dresses, to the Log Lady's eccentric log accessories which appear as a pattern on a slouchy suit, there was lots on our mood board to inspire. I'd like to see Donna in one of our knits," concept designer for H&M Studio Angelica Grimborg told me as she referenced the obvious Twin Peaks vibes.

As you scroll through the photo series, you might think of Taylor Swift, like I did, who paints a picture of Marilyn Monroe in her song "The Lucky One" and sings, "You got that James Dean daydream look in your eye" in "Style." Her own personal connection to both Hollywood stars manifests itself through her wardrobe, which definitely has room for H&M's houndstooth turtleneck or the leather biker jacket, which she could easily use to turn up the edge for her new Reputation era.

As for what we're scooping up first? The chunky Western-inspired boots that are a little more streamlined and versatile than an all-out cowboy style, but will ground just about everything we're planning to wear this Fall. The shoe also happens to be Angelica's favorite item. "It's always hard to choose, but I love the cropped knit sweater and the square-toed, shiny leather boots. They will add a modern toughness to any outfit, even if you're wearing a cute fuchsia dress with an elegant tie at the neck – the boot makes the look," she said.
