Christian Siriano Sent the Front Row Into a Cheering Fit With Just 1 T-Shirt

Christian Siriano sent neon green gowns and tropical-print platforms down the runway for Spring '19, but it was a simple t-shirt with the phrase "Vote For Cynthia" that got the biggest cheers from the front row: Danielle Brooks, Whoopi Goldberg, and, yes, New York gubernatorial candidate Cynthia Nixon herself.

Indeed, Nixon seemed to be the collection's unofficial muse, even evoking a special thanks from the designer in his show notes: "Special thanks to: Cynthia Nixon for all you're doing for New York. Also thanks to the entire Christian Siriano team and to all of the women who have worn the clothes over the last 10 years. Thank you to all the editors, stylists, photographers, and artists for all the support."

Those sentiments, both the appreciation for women and female empowerment, were echoed on the runway in Christian's thoughtful cast of models. Always a bright spot, Siriano continues to push toward inclusivity, even as the rest of the industry is slow to follow. Both curvy and straight models walked the runway, as did a handful of men in a selection of unisex clothing.

Still, if Cynthia Nixon was written into the show notes, Samantha Jones was written all over the clothes. Bold, sexy cuts, statement colors and patterns — hello, lime green and snake print! — and a lineup of evening and cocktail wear paired with sky-high heels made up the some 66 looks. It's a collection inspired by a holiday vacation to Hawaii, but might be more at home at a glamorous cocktail party, or more likely, turning heads on the red carpet.
