Every Kind of Sandal You’re Going to See This Summer

Our pedicures are done, outfits planned, and seasonal tans are on the horizon. Next up? Our skin-baring footwear. While we're always going to be in the market for a classic gladiator or slide, five new head-turning trends have emerged from the runways and are sure to be all over the place once the warm weather season really gets underway. From feathers to PVC and everything in between, here are the most popular Summer sandal trends of 2019.

Ankle Wraps

Metallic

When you're on the hunt for the ultimate day-to-night, festive-yet-classic, go-with-anything sandals, take a cue from the likes of Balmain, 3.1 Phillip Lim, Isabel Marant, and more. Designers around the world filled their Spring/Summer 2019 collections with the most extensive array of metallic sandals we've seen in a while, so there's never been a better time to get on board with the shiny trend.

Feathers

Whimsy has hit its prime by way of flat Summer sandals for the 2019 season. Debuted on the runway by the likes of Valentino, Giambattista Valli, Prabal Gurung, and more, this exotic texture brings your everyday kicks to the next level like few other details can.

PVC

PVC is a trend that has infiltrated every corner of our wardrobes for Spring — from ballet flats to cropped jackets and everything in between. Perhaps no more accessible, however, than sandals, so it's a sure thing you're about to see it in every style and color when it comes to your summer footwears. Most specifically, when it comes to our PVC sandals, we're drawing inspiration from the collections of Giorgio Armani, Mary Katrantzou and more, come Spring and Summer season this year.

Ropes

Go full-blown nautical for Spring and Summer with flat sandals that are literally made out of ropes. Ulla Johnson, Monse, and Milly sure think we should, filling their seasonal collections with warm-weather footwear that might have been inspired by a boat, but look just as good in the concrete jungle you call home.
