Billy Porter, always one to make a fashion statement on the red carpet, arrived at the 2019 Emmy Awards in a Michael Kors Collection Couture pinstripe suit, though what you may have noticed first is his Stephen Jones hat, a Western-inspired statement item that comes in a tall, checkmark-like silhouette. Like, "Check! This is totally the best outfit on the red carpet." At least, that's how we're interpreting it. "I have always loved fashion. I don't know if fashion icon was in my lexicon, but if people are saying that about me, I'm down with it," he said during an interview.

Before Billy arrived at the event, he showed off some behind-the-scenes shots in his hotel room in LA, including the moment he slipped into his towering Rick Owens platform boots and strutted out the door. You'll also notice that Billy's carrying a crystalized, moon-shaped bag, and his Oscar Heyman flower ring fits the bill.
