So far, 2020's biggest swimsuit trends are shaping up to be exactly how we expected them: highly influenced by the Kardashian-Jenners et al. But rather than simply rounding up all the cutout one-pieces and sexy two-pieces celebrities have been wearing, we tapped some of our favorite swim brands and took their opinions into account.

Zimmermann, Summersalt, Solid & Striped, Onia, Marysia, and Lisa Marie Fernandez all spoke to POPSUGAR about the swimsuits that are already bestsellers for 2020, and some of our favorite styles made the cut. You probably won't be surprised to find that snake print is still all the rage — it's probably the most shoppable of the trends listed here — but ruffles are seeing a resurgence now, too. Rather than simply finishing a sleeve, these are fashioned in new ways: in the form of an asymmetrical sash down the front bodice or fluttering along the hemline at the hips.

With a major shift toward eco-friendly habits, vegan leather swimwear is also on the rise, which makes for an edgy look you can really feel good about. Finally, the scarf-like, vintage effect fever isn't going anywhere. (Think: the type of graphic prints you'd see on retro silk hair bandanas.) Scroll through to shop.

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Snake Print Bikinis

Solid + Striped names the snake-print two-piece its hottest style of 2020. Elsa Hosk mixed and matched prints with an oversize vintage-inspired shirt as a cover-up (another trend we've spotted on the likes of Kendall Jenner).

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Wrap-Effect Swimsuits

Nina Dobrev was pictured in Onia's Lilia one-piece, which the brand says "is ingenious for incorporating a hidden underwire that adds that extra lift for a superflattering fit. Designers are constantly looking for new ways to support and enhance the female form and this wrap suit is perfect because it does just that."

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Vegan Leather + Leather Effect Swimwear

According to Lisa Marie Fernandez, "Sustainability is a major and important movement, and it's an important practice at Lisa Marie Fernandez. But since it's my girl, it's also sexy. One of my favorite styles presently is our Goldwyn Vegan Leather Bikini, that has that '50s lingerie vibe. I love unexpected fabrications that are also still completely swimmable."

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Swimsuits With Ruffles

Summersalt maintains that "Ruffles will have a big moment in 2020, and Summersalt's Ruffle Sidestroke, a playful update on the brand's iconic Sidestroke suit, is right on trend with its multi-layered ruffles, mixed prints, and big personality. The Ruffle Backflip (pictured here) will also be a bestseller with a deep V-front, stunning open back, and of course flirty ruffles! Both styles are sure to be customer favorites in the new year!"

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Vintage Scarf-Effect Swimsuits

Right in line with the vintage aesthetic that's all the rage right now, Zimmermann predicts that its Freja two-piece will continue to be a bestseller. These are so easy to throw on, and will be popular in vintage scarf-like prints or mix-and-match colorways.

Swimsuit Trend 2020: Maillots That Double as Bodysuits

Marysia Dobrzanska Reeves of Marysia Swim said of the maillot, "I've always been a fan of swim pieces that multitask – this can easily be worn as a top under a skirt or jeans to dinner. It makes packing so much easier and your purchase goes a long way when you see it as both a swimsuit and top!" Talk about versatile.
