Few brands have a greater hold on my life (or wallet) than Anthropologie. Every time the retailer releases a new batch of arrivals, I immediately find myself glued to my phone for hours on end, just endlessly scrolling (and yes, often impulse purchasing) the latest products — regardless of what category they're in. And Anthro's newest drop of fall fashion pieces has once again managed to grab my attention — though unlike my usual, disorganized shopping antics, I'm focused on Anthropologie's new dress selection, in particular.

Since we're in that awkward seasonal limbo of wrapping up summer but not quite being ready to embrace fall, I figure now's the perfect time to restock my closet with a few transitional pieces to carry me through the next couple of months. Time and time again, dresses have proven to be my favorite transitional style — providing all the appeal of a put-together outfit without any of the hassle of having to actually put yourself together. And when it comes to dress shopping, I've found that you really can never go wrong with starting at Anthropologie. This season especially, the retailer is brimming with well-made, head-turning dresses that will constantly leave your friends asking, "OMG, where'd you get that?"

If you'd like a little guidance on how to also craft your own transitional wardrobe, I curated a shopping guide to the best dresses Anthropologie currently has to offer. Many of them come in extended sizing, so there are options for a variety of body types. I also love the unique fabrics and prints that are out right now. Take a look at these gorgeous pieces, and treat yourself to something fun.

A Floral Dress: Maeve Buttonfront Shirt Dress

Contrary to popular belief, floral dresses are just as great for wear throughout the fall months as they are for summer. This Maeve Buttonfront Shirt Dress ($170) showcases that perfectly, with delicate floral designs scattered across the style and a shirt dress silhouette to complete it with a more polished flair. Let the dress speak for itself (it is enough of a statement style on its own) and simply pair it with a casual sandal or mule.

An Airy Dress: Charlie Holiday Isabella Maxi Dress

This pretty Charlie Holiday Isabella Maxi Dress ($149) encompasses all the appeal of a breezy dress into one singular style. Because of how laid-back the dress is, the frock would look super cute with just a denim jacket and white sneakers. Alternatively, you could even dress it up with a pair of brown booties and a statement, evening clutch for a playful nighttime ensemble.

A Classic Dress: The Somerset Maxi Dress

Forget the LBD — this season, we're all into flowy, princess-style maxi dresses that are as classic as they are versatile. Take this The Somerset Maxi Dress ($170), for example. With its cinched waistline, flounced sleeves, and tiered silhouette, the frock can easily be dressed up or down — depending on the occasion and your own style preferences. Though we recommend pairing it with a deep, red lip color in any situation!

It's giving a dancing-girl-emoji vibe, and we're not even mad about it. In all truth, there might not be a more elegant gown in Anthropologie's dress stock than this regal Anthropologie Sweetheart Bodice Midi Dress ($180) number. The decadent red coloring is completely divine. And with that pleated skirt, we're already tempted to grab our dancing shoes and twirl the night away.

Anthropologie has (once again!) restocked this Bias Slip Dress ($120) because so many customers rave about it. Pair the dress with your favorite black pumps for a trendy (yet still totally fresh!) day-to-night outfit.

A Relaxed Dress: Grey State Winnie Dress

Who says you have to sacrifice comfort in order to look cute? This Grey State Winnie Dress ($138) definitely proves otherwise with its zip styling, cinched waist, and (bonus!) deep side pockets. We can't decide if we want to dress it up with chunky heels or throw on our sneakers and wear it to the tennis court. Either way, we're obsessed!

An Eye-Catching Dress: Maeve Bow-Back Halter-Neck Midi Dress

Turn heads in any room with this Maeve Bow-Back Halter-Neck Midi Dress ($180). We're completely taken by the gown's rich green coloring, which provides so much great styling opportunity for autumn — allowing you to easily wear it with a vibrant red clutch or cream heels. But of course, the real highlight of this dress lies in its statement-making, ivory bow detail that's draped across the back.

A Body-Hugging Dress: BHLDN Kayleigh Georgette Dress

Corsets are everywhere these days, so of course it only makes sense that the fashion style would work its way into dresses, too. We're not complaining — especially with this tailored and corset-inspired BHLDN Kayleigh Georgette Dress ($220), which hugs the body in all the right places. The soft, side-slit completes the style with a breathable and sexy (yet still subtle!) touch.

We humbly recommend this Dhruv Kapoor Smocked Cerise Dress ($198) style, in particular. There's so much to love about this elegant yet still playful gown — though we're most obsessed with that ultra-flattering, smocked empire-waist bodice.
