"Beach Babe" Should Be Added to the Dictionary With Hailey Bieber's Elle Shoot as the Definition

Though she grew up in New York, with her sun-kissed skin and blond hair, it's easy for Hailey Bieber to embody the classic California beach babe. In the March 2020 issue of Elle, the newly married model sported an array of swimwear in a cover shoot that will likely leave you searching for flights to anywhere with a little sand and water.

The oceanside theme of the spread is a good fit for Hailey, too, who has spent a lot of time in Brazil, where her mother is from. "I love the culture of Brazil. It reminds me of my family — my grandma and my mom," she told the magazine. "I can sing a lot of Brazilian music in Portuguese, and I make a really good pão de queijo."

When she's not wearing designer clothes down a runway, Hailey is laid-back in her personal style: "I think you can be comfortable and still look cool and chic at the same time." This approach translated to arguably the most famous outfit she's worn in the past year, her wedding dress, designed by Virgil Abloh. "From the beginning, I said, 'I want somebody who's not a wedding dress designer to do my main dress,'" she said. "Virgil had never designed a wedding dress before, and it was perfect. It was like having this block of marble and then chipping away at it."
