Think Poet Amanda Gorman Has a Way With Words? Her Fashion Speaks Volumes, Too

First thing's first: inaugural poet Amanda Gorman — who just signed with IMG Models as representation for her fashion endeavors — had that yellow Prada coat way before she delivered "The Hill We Climb" at the inauguration. The 22-year-old Harvard graduate, who was named the nation's first youth poet laureate in 2017, actually has a pretty good relationship with Miuccia Prada's Milan-based fashion house. Prada invited Gorman to speak at its "Shaping a Future" conference in 2019, where she delivered a speech about her thoughtful views on sustainability, and after sitting in the front row at the fall 2019 show, she wrote "A Poet's Prada" as an ode to the fashion industry's major forces that must reflect on their power and environmental impact.

But Gorman is not all Prada and no play — she continues to reinvent the wheelhouse when it comes to styling outfits using pieces from her own closet, which she shares regularly on Instagram. She has also recently started working with stylist Jason Bolden to construct standout looks. Gorman is attracted to bright bursts of color and retro silhouettes, not unlike The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, who she dressed up as for Halloween (FYI: she's also pretty tight with Rachel Brosnahan). Gorman's worn ASOS on the red carpet — her feed is proof she has prowess at mixing high and low — and it's clear she chooses to support brands with a forward thinking mentality. Scroll down to reminisce about some of her best fashion moments to date, though, for as long as she continues to create and inspire, what she wears will, too. She'll make sure of it.

Amanda wore a bedazzled yellow headband from Autumn Adeigbo and a brushstroke pastel blazer from Chanel for an appearance on The Ellen Show.

She's owned this yellow Prada coat for awhile, which Lyst reports caused a 1,328 percent overnight spike in "yellow coats" after she wore it at the inauguration.
