"The mermaid idea came out of the blue," Allison told POPSUGAR. "I had made a large-scale painting of Biggie Smalls as a mermaid in one of my art classes and I really liked how it came out, so I made a 2Pac mermaid as well and decided to print the designs on a run of T-shirts and phone cases. Luckily, they were a hit! After that, I just kept making more and more celebrity mermaids — I am now up to 75 different ones. I am always taking requests as well, but the Biggie one has remained the most popular over the years."
