It's No Venomous Spider, but the Back of Zendaya's Dress Can Still Bite

The red carpet has never looked so venomous. On Nov. 29, Zendaya and Tom Holland attended the 2021 Ballon d'Or football awards in Paris looking dashing as ever. The ceremony, which honors the best men's and women's football players, had the Spider-Man: No Way Home actress channelling her inner villain with a fabulously frightening designer outfit. Zendaya wore a custom Roberto Cavalli metal spine dress designed by Fausto Puglisi and styled by Law Roach. The formfitting dress featured a boat neckline and three-quarter sleeves, but the second Zendaya turned around, we knew that this was so much more than a simple black red carpet look.

The open back was adorned with a two-headed, gold, reptile-like figure stretching down her spine. With diamonds filling up the creature's mouth and embellishments dripping down the back, we can all agree that there was not one detail left out. Following the event, Zendaya reposted a fan account's side-by-side photo of her dress and Doc Ock from Spider-Man, writing, "we love a reference." Zendaya might've channelled her inner villain, but hey, being bad has never looked so good!

Fausto is putting his own spin on classic Roberto Cavalli designs, as her dress was originally from the brand's fall/winter 2000 collection. "I love Zendaya since day ONE! ❤️ I re edited this frock for my girl! Custom made for a Queen! ❤️ I'm in Heaven!" he wrote on Instagram. Check out the fabulous photos of Zendaya at the ceremony ahead.
