These Jewel-Toned Trousers Are My Ideal Holiday Look: Festive, but Not Over-the-Top
The holiday season is my favorite time of year: I listen to Christmas music almost exclusively starting the day after Thanksgiving, and I make it my mission to admire all of the homes with extravagant, over-the-top decorations in my neighborhood.
When it comes to holiday dressing, though, I go for a less obvious approach. My vibe is festive and fun but not too over-the-top: think a classic cable-knit top rather than tacky Christmas sweaters. That's why I was thrilled to discover these tie-waist trousers ($40). The deep-plum color makes them feel special enough to wear to holiday drinks or a family party but isn't quite as obvious as the traditional red-and-green look.
Plus, these pants look great with everything from a sleek bodysuit and sneakers to a glitzy top and heeled boots. I'm tempted to snap them up in a few other colors, too — the emerald green is calling my name. Keep scrolling to check out all five colors.
My Exact Pants in Plum Wine

High-Waisted Cropped Belted Straight-Leg Pants in Dark Ivy
The emerald-green option ($40) also feels very holiday appropriate, especially if you dress them up with some sparkly jewelry or party-ready heels.
High-Waisted Cropped Belted Straight-Leg Pants in Peppercorn
This peppercorn-brown color ($40) can really work for any occasion, from a business-casual meeting to a family dinner party.
High-Waisted Cropped Belted Straight-Leg Pants in Panther
A slightly faded alternative to black, the panther-gray color ($40) is also a lovely neutral option.
High-Waisted Cropped Belted Straight-Leg Pants in Black Jack
Of course, you can't go wrong with a classic pair of black pants ($40).
