New York Presbyterian CPR Playlist

This Hospital Made a Playlist to Match CPR Compressions, and It's Spot-On

If you've recently been trained in CPR but you aren't totally confident in your ability to save lives just yet, it might benefit you to know that New York Presbyterian hospital has created a playlist just for you. Yes, an actual playlist with songs you probably already jam out to every day.

Julia Reinstein of BuzzFeed News tweeted on Oct. 9 that, upon taking a CPR class, she subsequently discovered that the hospital has a curated list of popular songs that all have just the right beats to time CPR compressions to. The playlist — which is currently available on Spotify under the name "Songs to do CPR to" — has a total of 47 songs. Some of them include "Stayin' Alive" by the Bee Gees, "Work It" by Missy Elliott, and "I Will Survive" by Gloria Gaynor. All of the songs have a tempo of 100 to 120 beats per minute, which is the same rate at which trained or untrained bystanders should give chest compressions to, according to Mayo Clinic. Give it a listen below.
