This is Starbucks's newest drink, the latte macchiato — a mashup of two traditional coffee shop staples to create a frothy caffeinated drink that's more milk than anything else (the milk-to-espresso ratio is what differentiates a latte from a macchiato). It's a fancy name for what's essentially foamed milk with espresso. Upon your first hot sip, you'll get the flavor of light, airy milk combined with the smooth bitterness of espresso that's been poured down the center.

If you prefer a bold cup of coffee over a light, milk-heavy beverage, you might want to skip out on this one. With no added sweetness, this is not going to please your taste buds if you typically order things like caramel macchiatos, unless you add a syrup flavor to your order. However, the latte macchiato is a good morning option for those who prefer milky espresso drinks at Starbucks. While our taste testers were divided, one who strays from sweet drinks thinks she'll be adding this to her coffee-order rotation. Personally, I'll stick to my dark roast with a pinch of sugar.
