Her grandfather, Dino De Laurentiis, was a renowned film producer.

Dino passed away in 2010, but he remains a legacy in the world of film. Thirty-eight of his 100+ films were nominated for Academy Awards. He also had a successful Italian restaurant and specialty foods store called DDL Foodshow, where Giada spent a lot of time in the kitchen growing up.
