Starbucks Frappuccinos Ranked From Worst to Best

Starbucks
Starbucks

Starbucks has had its fair share of Frappuccinos throughout the years, most of which are honestly delicious. As of late, though, the coffee brand has been rolling out more innovative and aesthetically pleasing frozen beverages that maybe don't totally deliver on flavor. (I'm looking at you, Unicorn Frappuccino.) While we couldn't track down every single iteration of the Frappuccino that Starbucks has accomplished, we did manage to come up with more than 40 of them in a definitive list of worst to best.

Availability of Frappuccinos varies seasonally. Check with your local Starbucks for current menu options.

Unicorn Frappuccino

I'm sad to say the worst-tasting Frappuccino is probably the Unicorn Frappuccino. Yes, it was beautiful for Instagram and really innovative with flavors and colors, but it just didn't taste very good. The sourness of the sour coloring didn't work with the sweetness of the mango and it overall wasn't worth the calories — if you even finished it.

41

Birthday Cake Frappuccino

We really wanted to love the Birthday Cake Frappuccino. We love birthday cake and all things pink, but we couldn't even find a Starbucks that had the raspberry whipped cream, so not only did we end up with a boring white Frappuccino, but it didn't even taste like birthday cake.

40

Lemon Bar Frappuccino

I don't want citrus mixed with my creamy Frappuccinos, so this one never worked for me. The drink includes a lemonade base and a caramel sugar sprinkle, so while it was definitely sweet and sour, it was also not great.

39

Cotton Candy Crème Frappuccino

You know who probably likes the Cotton Candy Crème Frappuccino? Children. It's just a Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino with raspberry syrup, so it's not really cotton candy at all, but it is extremely sweet.

Affogato-Style Frappuccinos

Affogato-Style Frappuccinos

Starbucks tried adding a hot shot of espresso to Frappuccinos for a bit, creating the Affogato-Style Frappuccinos. While the added espresso cut through a lot of the sweetness from the Frappuccinos, the melted mess we ended up with wasn't worth it.

Fruitcake Frappuccino

Fruitcake Frappuccino

No one likes fruitcake in real life, so it wasn't too surprising that no one liked the Fruitcake Frappuccino either. The drink was super sweet and didn't actually taste much like fruitcake, more like a fruity milkshake with caramel, which also isn't a great combination.

36

Red Velvet Cake Crème Frappuccino

As is with the problem with so many red-velvet-flavored things, the Red Velvet Cake Crème Frappuccino didn't have a very distinct flavor, though the chocolate chips blended in for a nice textural finish.

35

Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino

While the caramel crunchies on the top of the Caramel Ribbon Crunch Frappuccino were an excellent textural touch, overall the drink was too sweet and too bland.

34
Frappula Frappuccino 2015
POPSUGAR Photography | Anna Monette Roberts

Frappula Frappuccino 2015

The Frappula Frappuccino from 2015 had raspberry syrup with its mocha flavor, which tasted like a berry hot chocolate but with a little too much artificial flavor.

33

Mango Pineapple Frappuccino

The mango and pineapple flavors in the Mango Pineapple Frappuccino were too subtle to take on the crème base in this drink, making the whole thing a bit muddy.

32

Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino

While the Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino is a classic Starbucks option, it is a bit lackluster in its plain vanillaness. Sure it tastes like a vanilla milkshake, but if you want a vanilla milkshake, there are better options elsewhere.

31

White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino

The White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino is basically the Vanilla Bean Crème Frappuccino's less known cousin. Both have mostly milk and ice, but instead of vanilla bean, the White Chocolate Crème Frappuccino has—you guessed it—white chocolate sauce. It's alright.

30

Frappula Frappuccino 2016

The Frappula Frappuccino from 2016 was definitely an improvement over the previous year, but the strawberry flavor still tasted a bit artificial. Bonus points for creativity though!

29

Double Chocolatey Chip Crème Frappuccino

I used to love the Double Chocolatey Chip Crème Frappuccino when I was young because of how chocolatey it was, but now it feels a little overwhelming. I could barely finish a tall without feeling a little sick from the sugar (a grande has half the recommended amount of sugar for women in a day). If you're a chocolate lover, this drink is for you; if you're not, steer clear.

28

Cupcake Crème Frappuccino

The Cupcake Crème Frappuccino is really, really sweet and rich and indulgent and all those other things that make it really hard to finish.

27

Mocha Coconut Frappuccino

For the Mocha Coconut Frappuccino, Starbucks introduced coconut into the mix, and while it gives it a tropical flavor, the coconut paired with coffee isn't our favorite.

26

Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino

The Mocha Cookie Crumble Frappuccino itself is a smooth chocolaty flavor that's reminiscent of a milkshake, but the chocolate whipped cream and cookie crumble on top just add that extra oomph. It's a lot of chocolate, but not necessarily in a bad way. Want a coffee-free version? Order the Chocolate Cookie Crumble Frappuccino.

25

Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino

The Cinnamon Roll Frappuccino was once strictly on Starbucks's secret menu but has since transitioned into rotation and with good reason. The vanilla bean flavor and white chocolate mocha sauce actually create the flavor of a cinnamon roll.

24

Pokémon Go Frappuccino

Starbucks's fruity concoction to celebrate Pokémon Go was actually a decent take on a creamy, fruity smoothie. The Pokémon Go Frappuccino might have been more of a selling point for Pokémon trainers than for actual beverage-seekers, but the raspberry syrup and freeze-dried blackberries worked well together.

23

Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino

Three words: chocolate whipped cream. The topping on the aptly named Double Double Fudge Bar Frappuccino kept this drink easily in the top half of this list.

22

Coffee Frappuccino

A Coffee Frappuccino: the basic choice. Of course, if you're a no frills coffee drinker, then this might be at the top of your list. While we love a classic, we want a little something extra in our Frappuccino to really impress us.

21

Espresso Frappuccino

If you want a non-sweet Frappuccino that gives you a nice caffeine kick, the Espresso Frappuccino is the perfect choice for you. This drink is quite simply a Coffee Frappuccino with an extra shot of espresso mixed in. No nonsense.

20

Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino

If a milkshake is what you seek, the Strawberries & Crème Frappuccino is the answer. This Frappuccino tastes exactly like a strawberry milkshake, whipped cream and all.

19

Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino

And its sister Frappuccino, the Strawberry Shortcake Frappuccino, was another fruity launch that won with freeze-dried berries and strawberry syrup.

18

Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino

Starbucks does a great job with this Frappuccino thanks to a key ingredient: vanilla bean powder. The powder, used in Frappuccinos like the Caffè Vanilla Frappuccino, really takes this drink up a notch and makes it worth the money (and crazy amount of sugar).

17

Blackberries & Crème Frappuccino

The Blackberries & Crème Frappuccino used freeze-dried blackberries in the mix, which had a berry authentic mouthfeel, not to mention how delicious they tasted with the vanilla base.

16

Matcha Green Tea Crème Frappuccino

Matcha fanatics, rejoice! Known as one of the more refreshing Frappuccinos, the Matcha Green Tea Crème Frappuccino is a very tasty treat for tea lovers. The Frappuccino provides a nice boost of caffeine and is very aesthetically pleasing as well.

Cherry Blossom Frappuccino

Cherry Blossom Frappuccino

The limited-edition Cherry Blossom Frappuccino had no cherry flavor in it, but we weren't even mad about it because the sweet flavors it did have were so on point. This is one of Starbucks's sweeter Frappuccino options that really worked.

14
Waffle Cone Frappuccino

Waffle Cone Frappuccino

While a bit of a calorie-buster, the Waffle Cone Frappuccino was totally delicious with its waffle cone syrup, but the real star was the waffle cone bits on top!

13
Franken Frappuccino

Franken Frappuccino

The Franken Frappuccino from 2014 was a vibrant green concoction that tasted like an icy mint chocolate chip shake that we wish was around all the time.

12

Chai Crème Frappuccino

The Chai Crème Frappuccino is definitely one of my favorite non-coffee options. It tastes exactly like a Chai Tea Latte, only in Frappuccino form! What's not to love about that?

11

Caramel Cocoa Cluster Frappuccino

The Caramel Cocoa Cluster Frappuccino has a lot going on but it all works together. The toffee nut syrup in the drink paired with the caramel drizzle on top taste very much like a Harry Potter-inspired Butterbeer.

10

Mocha Frappuccino

The simplicity of the Mocha Frappuccino is what makes it so perfect. When you want a rich, frozen beverage without all the bells and whistles, the often-forgotten Mocha Frappuccino is the way to go. Bonus: it comes in white chocolate too!

09

Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino

The best part about the Cinnamon Dolce Frappuccino is obviously the cinnamon dolce topping, however the classic, subtle flavor of the cinnamon in the drink keeps this staple Frappuccino at the top of the list.

08

Java Chip Frappuccino

Another classic, the Java Chip Frappuccino really wins because of the chips! They give the drink texture and flavor throughout.

07

Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino

Salty and sweet come together in delicious harmony to create the Salted Caramel Mocha Frappuccino. The perfect blend of mocha and toffee land this underrated Frappuccino high on our list. You can even get a crème version if coffee isn't your thing!

06

Berry Prickly Pear Frappuccino

The funky flavor of the Berry Prickly Pear Frappuccino was a real winner in terms of fruitiness. The melon and berry flavor swirls are light and refreshing and fit right into the Summer menu.

05

Tuxedo Mocha Frappuccino

Combining mocha sauce and white mocha sauce was the magic equation for the Tuxedo Mocha Frappuccino, but the best part was the chocolate curls on top.

04

Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino

The Midnight Mint Mocha Frappuccino is extra indulgent and tastes like a mint chocolate milkshake without being too heavy, thanks to the addition of coffee.

03

Pumpkin Spice Frappuccino

We couldn't *not* include the Frappuccino version of Starbucks' most iconic drink! It even comes in a crème version if you aren't a coffee lover but still want to get your frap fix.

02

S'mores Frappuccino

The S'mores Frappuccino has been a fan favorite since its inception partially because of the marshmallow cream and flavor that adds richness without being too sweet and because of the crumbled graham cracker on top that give you a bit of crunch.

01

Caramel Frappuccino

The classic Caramel Frappuccino earns top spot for the fact that it's simple and well done, and because the caramel drizzle on top is like frozen candy when it blends into the drink.
