How to Layer Your Thanksgiving Table Like a Stylist

Let’s face it, faded dying leaves can make for a rather dull palette. Stick with deep jewel tones for a warmer, more celebratory feeling. We based this palette around Abby’s mustard yellow chairs. Our inspiration? This bouquet.

The holidays are the perfect time to mix fruit with your flowers (or in our case, a garland)- the key is to keep it unstructured. Small bowls in various sizes filled with fruit or nuts do double duty as appetizers and decor. Or you can go even simpler, like we did this year, and spread your fruit loosely along the table give an air of abundance.

Since we decided to use a low garland, we added some height back in by raising candles up on clear stands.

Okay, you don’t have to go nuts with it, but a bit of gold in the flatware, edging on the plates, or rimmed glassware pulls everything together with a little extra sparkle.

If there was ever a meal where two napkins were needed, Thanksgiving is it! It’s a nice way to create a cozy, layered look while mixing colors or patterns.

It’s unexpected yet elegant, and draws the eye upwards. Another great spot for bold color? Pillar and taper candles.

The simple addition of a bit of ribbon at each place setting makes the table feel extra special without hurting your wallet.
