No One Expected This to Happen to Flip or Flop After the Divorce Announcement

After Tarek and Christina El Moussa shared that they were splitting up, Flip or Flop fans were left wondering whether the demise of their marriage would also lead to the end of the beloved show. HGTV has since confirmed that Flip or Flop will still go on and the stars have continued to work together, but many didn't foresee the breakup actually increasing their mutual success.

Despite potentially damaging news going viral about their personal lives — like police reports from a May altercation and Tarek asking for spousal support — Christina and Tarek's separation may be driving ratings to their home renovation show instead of hindering them. "They were convinced when the news broke about their separating that it was going to hurt the show, especially as more details about their fighting and the nature of their relationship came out," an anonymous source told E News. "Everyone thought it would be their last season, but ratings and ad sales for the show skyrocketed."

As people continue to tune in for new episodes of Flip or Flop's sixth season, which was filmed before any drama was made public, it's the seventh season that's currently in production that many people can't wait to see. It's understandable that fans are curious about whether they can spot trouble in the current episodes while also eagerly awaiting the first glimpses of how these exes will remain coparents and co-workers without ruining the show's dynamic.

"We love filming. That's our job. We've been doing it a long time," Tarek told Today. "We love releasing a good product for our fans and just had to fight through it and do the best we could and I think it turned out great."

While people stay for the impressive renovations, we have a feeling that it's the potential "fight" that will keep ratings soaring.
