Julia Roberts's New Malibu Home Is Surprisingly Modest For Its Grand Price
A-list actress Julia Roberts has just added a modest Malibu, CA, home to her family's impressive list of properties, according to Variety. The 1,770-square-foot home sold for a jaw-dropping $6.84 million, a pretty high price tag for a one-story home with three bedrooms and two baths — but she can afford it after listing her Hawaiian hideaway for nearly $30 million. While her new house is located in the celeb-friendly neighborhood of Point Dume, the ranch-style property more than doubles the average value of homes in that area.
Built in 1953, Julia's place includes distressed hardwood floors, exposed ceiling beams, a brick fireplace in the combined living room and dining room, a compact kitchen, and a den. The lot covers 1.16 acres and includes vegetable gardens and a grove of fruit trees, along with a huge circular driveway out front. The home is also conveniently across the street from her two-acre property, which she purchased in 2003 for $9.5 million.
