My sofa shopping journey all began when I moved into my apartment over a year ago. I live in a building with steep stairs and sharp corners, and my old bulky sofa didn't fit through the front door. I then found myself shopping for a modular sofa that came in pieces, so I could easily take it inside to assemble it.
My wish list for the perfect couch seemed to grow longer each day. I wanted something comfortable enough to lounge on, but one that wouldn't slouch or get that "used" look within just a few months. Most importantly, I also wanted something cool, modern, and sleek. Oh, and not something that was several thousands dollars either. Let me tell you, finding something that ticks all those boxes in not easy.
There are so many other sofas I was one click away from buying, but each one had something that made me hesitate. Then I came across the Castlery Todd Side Chaise Sofa ($1,599) and couldn't stop thinking about it. I've never been much of an impulse buyer, so I slept on it for weeks. I perused customer photos of it on Instagram and read every review I could find. Customers raved about how quality held up and it was super plush and comfortable, even while having a modern boxy look. I eventually decided this was the one, and I was right.
Hands down, my favorite thing about the sofa is the way it looks. It has a sleek and modern vibe that totally completes my living room and fits into my style.
Within a few weeks it showed up (and fit) inside my apartment. It came in two boxes that were easy to break down and the assembly took less than 10 minutes. Hands down, my favorite thing about the sofa is the way it looks. It has a sleek and modern vibe that totally completes my living room and fits into my style. My second favorite thing, the armrest is soft and actually acts as a pillow that I can lay my head on. I've had it for about four months now and it's held up great. There's no stretching or creases in the fabric, it still looks brand new. I also have a cat who has decided it's not worth destroying. All in all, I'm am blown away by the quality.
The price tag was on the higher side for me, but when I compared other options with this aesthetic and comfort level the prices were upwards three thousand dollars. This is for sure the best option for the most affordable price that I came across. Because my space is small, I ended up opting for a chaise style sofa with just one armrest and it's great for my lifestyle. The couch comes in a number of other versatile configurations too though, plus the modular design makes it easy to add to it later.
