Brittany Murphy's House Is Completely Unrecognizable Today

Actress Brittany Murphy tragically died in 2009, but the Hollywood Hills home where she (and five months later husband Simon Monjack) passed away sat on the market until 2011. Brittany purchased the Mediterranean five-bedroom, five-bath home from singer Britney Spears in 2003 for $3.85 million, and — after some anguish — Brittany's mother was finally able to offload the property in 2011 for a loss at $2.7 million.

Thereafter, what was a Mediterranean was torn down to the studs and rebuilt as a bigger, modern home, with a brand-new price tag to match: $18.4 million. The relisted 9,400-square-foot home features a grand marble entrance, soaring ceilings, and walnut floors and paneling.
