Jessica Chastain Did Something Totally Unexpected to Her Victorian Home and We Love It

Jessica Chastain doesn't shy away from big roles, and she doesn't shy away from big interior design choices either, as proven by the makeover she gave the 19th-century apartment she shares with her boyfriend, Gian Luca Passi de Preposulo, in Manhattan, NYC. We got a glimpse of the $5.1 million four-bedroom property at the time she purchased it, and while the historic home seemed straight out of a fairy tale, it also needed a bit of updating. Now, over a year later, the home has been completely updated in dramatic style. The actress and her fashion executive beau invited Architectural Digest in for a tour and what they revealed inside will surprise you.

Instead of brightening everything up with light gray paint, the interior design wall color du jour, or knocking down walls to create a trendy open-concept floor plan, interior designers Jesse Carrier and Mara Miller lined walls with deep color, added rich furniture with rich fabrics, layered textures and patterns, and highlighted the home's elaborate molding, woodwork, and six fireplaces. Their go-to designer was fashion favorite Ralph Lauren, whose luxurious home line can be seen throughout the breathtaking space.

The transformed home is a contemporary take on Victorian splendor. "Our biggest triumph was breathing new life, glamour, and sophistication into the old girl," designer Jesse told the magazine.
